A Way of Life, Not Simply a Place to Live

Episcopal House is a 19-story apartment complex at 15th and Walnut Streets in Allentown. It was erected and is managed by Episcopal Housing of the Lehigh Valley, Inc., and is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem.

Serving the needs of low and middle income elderly, Episcopal House is designed to be a way of life, not simply a place to live.

Apartments are of two types. One is an efficiency unit with combination living room and bedroom. The other type has a living room and separate bedroom. Both types have a kitchen and bath, and are air-conditioned. In addition, Episcopal House offers several recreation areas, a chapel. library, comfortable lounges, beauty salon, laundromat, snack bar, and a public restaurant.

The objective of Episcopal House is to create an environment in which elderly residents can live independently with dignity. In the event a resident becomes ill or requires care in a nursing or convalescent home, that care will be the responsibility of the individual and his or her family.

LOCATION
"The way of life" begins with the neighborhood in which Episcopal House is located. The area is largely residential and the grounds beautifully landscaped. Park benches on the patio invite residents to enjoy the beauty and comfort outdoors.

Limited off-street parking facilities are available to the residents. Public transportation stops at the front door, making nearby shopping areas easily accessible. An abundance of medical services are readily available in the neighborhood.

PROGRAMS
A "Program Committee" of residents provides a variety of regularly scheduled events and entertainment.

A coordinating office brings to Episcopal House the services of the City of Allentown, Lehigh County, and the Diocese.
